Key dates in Melba’s life
Introduction
Attempting to create a comprehensive record of Melba’s life is a daunting task that is made more difficult because Nellie spent most of her professional life overseas.
That said, during the next few months and years, this website will collect and add more information about our first international diva and a proud Australian.
This chronology is just a summary of events designed to provide a snapshot of Melba’s life and that of her family.
To help researchers, I have included references in brackets at the end of the listings. The full citation of the source is in the bibliography.

Where possible I have included links to other parts of the website where more information is available. Also, other relevant websites have been included should you wish to learn more about the person or the event.
All comments and contributions, no matter how small, are welcome.
